Essential travel tips for Sri Lanka

Best time to visit

The west and south coast are at their best December–April. The Cultural Triangle and hill country are pleasant year-round. Yala wildlife peaks February–July. We advise based on your specific dates.

What to pack

Light cotton clothes for the coast and plains, a warm layer for Nuwara Eliya evenings (1,900 m), comfortable shoes for Sigiriya, modest temple attire (shoulders and knees covered), sun protection and insect repellent.

Entry requirements

Most nationalities need a Sri Lankan Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) before arrival. Check current requirements on the official ETA website — rules can change. Your driver handles everything once you land.

FAQ

Common questions about the 7-day tour

What does the 7-day Sri Lanka tour package include?

The package includes a private air-conditioned vehicle with professional driver, airport pickup and drop-off, 6 nights' accommodation, daily breakfast (if confirmed), the Yala jeep safari and all driving. Exact inclusions are confirmed in your personalised quote before any payment.

How much does the 7-day Sri Lanka tour cost?

Pricing is a custom quotation based on your travel dates, group size (1–15 people), vehicle type and hotel category (budget, mid-range or luxury). Message Jayasinghe Tours on WhatsApp +94 787 077 007 or email booking@jayasinghetours.com for a personalised proposal — usually replied to within a few hours.

Can the itinerary be customised?

Absolutely. You can swap destinations, add beach days, replace Yala Safari with Mirissa whale watching (Nov–Apr), include Trincomalee, extend to 10 days or shorten to 5 days. We build the itinerary around your interests and budget.

Is Sigiriya difficult to climb?

The ascent involves around 1,200 steps and takes 45–90 minutes each way. It is manageable for most healthy adults at a relaxed pace. People with a fear of heights may find some sections challenging. Children old enough to climb stairs can do it with an adult.

Is this tour suitable for families with young children?

Yes. The pace is comfortable and the driver-guide adjusts stops based on your family's energy levels. Sigiriya is optional for very young children — they can explore the water gardens at the base while older family members climb the rock.

What vehicle will we travel in?

Group size determines the vehicle. Couples and small groups typically travel in a comfortable sedan or SUV. Families and groups of 5+ travel in a KDH van or similar high-roof vehicle. We confirm the vehicle in your quote.

When is the best time to do this tour?

The 7-day circuit visits both the west/south coast (best Dec–Apr) and the Cultural Triangle and hill country (pleasant year-round). The most popular window is December to March. Yala wildlife sightings peak between February and July. Tell us your dates and we'll advise the best approach.
