Essential travel tips for Sri Lanka

Best time to visit

What to pack

Light cotton for the coast & Anuradhapura, a warm layer for Nuwara Eliya evenings, comfortable shoes for Sigiriya's climb, modest temple attire for all religious sites, sun protection, insect repellent and seasickness tablets if whale watching.

Most nationalities need a Sri Lankan Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) before arrival. Check the official ETA website before booking — requirements can change. We handle everything on the ground once you arrive.

FAQ

Common questions about the 10-day tour

What does the 10-day Sri Lanka tour include?

Private air-conditioned vehicle with driver-guide for 10 days, airport pickup and drop-off, 9 nights accommodation, daily breakfast (if confirmed), Yala jeep safari, Mirissa whale watching boat trip (Nov–Apr) and all driving. Exact inclusions confirmed in your personalised quote before payment.

How much does the 10-day Sri Lanka tour cost?

Pricing is a custom quote based on travel dates, group size (1–15 people), vehicle type and hotel category. Contact Jayasinghe Tours on WhatsApp +94 787 077 007 or email booking@jayasinghetours.com. We usually reply within a few hours.

Is Mirissa whale watching guaranteed?

Blue whales are spotted on most trips in peak season (Nov–Apr). No wildlife trip can guarantee sightings, but Mirissa has one of the highest success rates in the world. Outside season we substitute another activity such as a second Yala safari morning or Udawalawe elephant watching.

Can the 10-day itinerary be customised?

Yes. We can add Trincomalee and Nilaveli beach, include Arugam Bay for surfing, swap Mirissa for Bentota beach, or extend the tour further. Tell us your interests and we build the perfect 10+ day itinerary.

Is the 10-day tour suitable for elderly travellers?

Yes, with some adjustments. The Sigiriya climb can be skipped or replaced with Dambulla alone. Anuradhapura is largely flat. The pace throughout is private and flexible, with no rushing. Tell us any mobility requirements and we plan accordingly.

What vehicle will we travel in for 10 days?

Couples and small groups travel in a comfortable sedan or SUV. Families and groups of 4+ travel in a spacious KDH high-roof van or similar. The vehicle and driver are dedicated to your group for the entire 10 days — no shared transfers.

Is this the right tour if I've already seen Kandy or Sigiriya before?

Yes — we can replace repeat destinations with new ones. For example, Kandy can become Dambulla only, Sigiriya can be skipped in favour of Polonnaruwa or Trincomalee, and the tour can start with Anuradhapura and Jaffna. We customise the route around your experience.
